If you have a little experience, our Power Boat course will give you the basic skills. We learn you how to control the boat and mirron the boat, all the basic essentials. After the course you will be able to drive under supervision
You start your training in a small RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) and progress. If you are experienced and require the Certificate, a direct assessment is also available.
The type of skills you will be learning are launch and recovery, boat preparation, basic boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard, high speed manoeuvres, introduction to navigation and a lot more.
The above is just a taste of the many areas covered on the course. We aim to provide you with the perfect foundation and template in the sport of Powerboating.
If the scheduled dates don't suit, get in touch and we should be able to organise a course for times that suit you.
Three pupils are needed for a Powerboat course and they can be arranged on demand.
We will teach you how to pick up passengers, doing the figure 8, reversing and giving you all skills you need to control a boat. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations. The course can be taken inland or on the coast and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. Afer Level 2 you will be a self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions, aware of own limitations and those of craft
You can further your Level 2 by doing a safety course. With your powerboat you learn how to rescue other boats such as dinkys, canoes, kayakers and anything in general with people on the water.
Qualifying from the safety course you will be able to provide safety or support cover to a range of craft
These courses are all arranged on demand throughout the year, you need 3 people to do the course for it to run.
